Day 43: Sometimes You Just Have To Get On With It.

seanfit1973

It has been a very long and tiring day today. I have been up, as you know, from 4.30am and walked the dog twice during the day. I have had a full day of teaching without a break, a break duty to boot. Additionally, I had a lunchtime intervention and I had to find my wife's Valentines present after school.

After that I entertained the in-laws (who are awesome) and had a jacket potato with salad, cheese and beans and a tin of mackerel. Following this, I had bananas and custard (low sugar) before walking to the shops.

I havent stopped to think what I have been eating or what steps I've walked until now, when I am in bed writing this, because sometimes you just have to get on with your day and let the healthy eating and watching your food take care of itself. Sometimes you can't micromanage everything you do during the day that will put on calories.

Instead you simply have to trust that you will make mostly the right choices and carry on pushing through the day. And that is what i have had to do today. But that's ok, I mainly made the right choices and, because of my stance on moderation and the fact that I can eat what I want in moderation, the pudding I had was fine. I'm not going to feel guilty about it.

My motivation to lose 4lbs this week hasn't disappeared yet, so I'm continuing to resist the biscuits that are in the staffroom. It's a strategy I've begun which is to say no straight away and then walk away or then, if I really do want one, I'll only have one. If I say no, most of the time I stick to it. If I think about whether I want one or not, generally I have one. It's a no-brainer!

I've done another 16,000+ steps and am feeling more energised and the afternoon lag is slowly disappearing and I feel more energised. I just have keep on the way I am and my healthy lifestyle will be here to stay. Then, maybe, once I've lost the weight, I can try for more ambitious goals...like running a marathon!

I hope you are all managing to keep going even on automatic busy days.

Thanks for reading.

Stay strong. Stay honest.

Sean.
