Day 224: The Struggle

seanfit1973

My step count has suffered today in the heat; the heat has been a real struggle. I have been trying to find ways of walking more and exercising more, but the heat is insatiable and is, therefore, hampering my motivation to move more. This morning's exercises were great and I really enjoyed them, although they were hard and a lot of times I wanted to simply give in. However, the mantras I repeated to myself were a good way of getting back into the swing of things. Don't forget that if you use mantras you actually have to believe in them. If you simply say them for saying them's sake, then you will simply be talking and not inspiring yourself to get back up and do better next time.

At the current moment I have walked a total of 4857 steps, about 3000 of which were done during my exercises this morning. I have been working on school since about 8am, but I can't really take the dog out in this heat and, also, doing chores around the house is also a struggle, with the humidity making every item of clothing stick to me.

Although I am moaning about the heat and really shouldn't, I should be out there hitting the road regardless of heat or cold, I am sure that when winter comes I will want the heat back again. Sometimes I think that we Brits could be Olympic and World Champions at moaning. We have so much practice.

The other point about the heat is that it really makes me want to go to sleep. I am sitting here, writing this post, with my eyes drooping every so often and sometimes I wake up, startled to find I have had a ten minute nap. With weather like this, I often wonder how athletes in very hot countries manage to create such amazing runners and footballers? Still, with a stomach as big as mine, I am certain never to put myself in the same category as them.

Thankfully, tomorrow's workout is only 25 minutes, although Heaven knows how hard it will be. Thursday is about 50 minutes though, so I am sure that that one I will feel. I have planed my meals for the day and have gone for about 30% carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein, so a drop in carbs of about 20%. I will try and reduce the carbs even more tomorrow and see what that does to help. But all I can do right now is try and stay awake long enough for me to do a little bit more throughout the day and try and lose as much as possible. I wonder if being in a sauna helps to lose weight?

Until tomorrow, stay strong and stay safe.

Thanks for reading.

Sean.
