Day 160: Something Different.

seanfit1973

In terms of exercise, every day I have a set couple of videos that I watch pretty much all the time, simply varying the days that I watch each video. Sometimes I will go along with the same video for three or four days, other times I will watch a different video each day (although still the same three or four), just so that I can mix it up. Like everyone everywhere, I have favourites and they have become my 'go-to' workouts during the week. I think I have shared a blog on them a few days ago.

However, this week I have been trying to do something a little bit different. This week I have gone back to one video I hadn't done in a while and I have tried two new exercise videos to try and vary the muscle groups that I am using and to make sure that my body doesn't get used to the routines I have set up for exercise. On Monday I went for a 'cardio starter' video and, although I got a little sweaty, I don't think I really worked out that much. Perhaps the 'starter' bit should've told me that this probably wasn't the one for me. But I still enjoyed it and I still got something out of it. The one I did today was much better and, although only 27 minutes long, I worked a sweat up and raised my heart rate to my fat burning zone and there it remained for pretty much the entire time of the video. I will probably go back to that one again at some point but, tomorrow, I intend to try and find something else to do and then end the week with an AvD video which I know will give me the biggest workout of the week.

On top of that we also decided to do meals a little differently today also. Rather than have our dinner at about 6, instead we had it at lunch and instead will have a tea (as my mum would call it) or supper (as my nan would have called it) in the evening. This has meant that I have not really been hungry throughout the day as the big main meal at lunchtime is still carrying me through now - although I am now becoming a little hungry.

Another something different was the timing of our walk. Again, we normally always go for a walk straight after dinner. We finish, grab our things (and the dog) and simply go. We let our legs lead us and simply keep walking until we decide to go back. We have found a lot of great places this way and places we didn't even know existed in our own neighbourhood (this is something I would highly recommend). We walked to a place called New Lubbesthorpe but in a completely different way and this made it very enjoyable. We even deviated from the route we were going to take because we found a different route we had never seen before.

Everything seems to have been a 'something different' day today and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only because it meant I did something new, but also that it made things that were not new much more enjoyable and, well...different. All this has helped me to keep going and not stop. I don't think I have sat down today (apart from now writing this) and I haven't really minded as it's been new and exciting.

Probably I will go back to my normal videos at some point and resume the normal walks at the normal time and eat when I would normally do...but to have a day where you do things differently, and you don't even have to do everything, just changing one thing will help, can help tp keep your motivation and drive and excitement going for another day and sometimes that's all you need when you don't 'feel it' somedays. Change (because let's face it, that's why I am doing this) is great and something to be embraced, not only in your lifestyle but also in your day to day deeds and thoughts and actions. Maybe it'll take you to a place you've never been before...and who doesn't like an adventure?

Until tomorrow, stay strong and stay safe.

Thank you for reading.

Sean.
