
So far I have used a lot of calories cleaning and tidying the house. Because of this, my house is a lot tidier, my weight is a little lower and I am a little prouder of my surroundings. Finally I am able to say that I have done some of the tidying I thought I would do when this lockdown began. It has been a great way to lose weight and something that has made me want to do more.
Therefore, today I decided to do the garden instead. Well, when I say I decided, I mean that my wife decided for me. My wife started the garden (we had bought a lot of plants from a garden centre the day before) in the morning but she felt a little ill during it. Not ill as in the pandemic ill, but lightheaded and dizzy. So instead she become the foreman for me and her son. And, to be fair, although I normally hate gardening, I really enjoyed doing it.
There was a rose climber, which her son and I put together and placed in a specific place. We then planted a lot of roses and flowers and deseeded a lot of the garden in order to place the other plants we had bought the previous day. There were a lot of small bedding plants and this means they have short roots...allegedly. I know nothing about this but my wife knows a lot, so we placed the plants and roses into places in the garden that she ordered us to.
The exercise was the fact that there was a lot of digging and weeding to do and I found, much to my annoyance, that digging for plants is a tiring job and realised why it wasn't really my thing. However, as with a lot of things, like healthy eating and exercising, I found that once I started and actually got into a rhythm, I was fine and was actually enjoying it. So much so that I agreed with my wife to carry on tomorrow. I am sure that I will regret that tomorrow, but at the moment I am looking forward to it and I shall take a photo of it and use it as the picture for tomorrow's blog.
On top of this, this evening I still went for a walk and did my 14,000 steps, even though it wasn't the same without the wife. One bonus, though, was that I could listen to an audio book whilst I walked, so I listened to The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings Book 1). It has been a long time since I read that book and I have been listening to it whilst I do other things around the house, like the cleaning and the ironing. I have also killed a lot of flies today, which are the bane of my life at the moment. I have no idea where they are coming from but I do know that I want them to go away and leave me alone.
So all in all it has been a rather good day, apart from my wife becoming sick. hope fully she will feel better in the morning and I will not have to worry about her so much. Therefore, tonight, I am grateful for my wife and her company on my walks because they are so much more fun when she is with me. If you are stuck for a new way of losing calories and don't really want to clean the house or simply want to be outside to lose them but don't want to walk, then gardening is the thing for you.
