A short one tonight, thankfully and excuse the visual pun.
I begin the day today 3 pounds lighter than I was last week. I am thoroughly chuffed and I am beginning to see a difference in my midsection. My wife, who is also on this journey with me, also lost 3 pounds. We were both in a good mood this morning, which is probably why we spent most of the morning cleaning the front garden and the front door and the front window. It was also nice to have a lie-in this morning and not have to get up to do my exercises.
I have, obviously, done my 14,000 steps and made sure that my habit list is definitely done, so that my motivation remains the same and I am continuing to work on me. It is also, though, my day off from watching what I eat, again, not going overboard. Although I have eaten more than I normally would during a day I have found that I cannot eat the same amounts as I normally would as my stomach seems to have shrunk considerably. Instead of being able to eat and eat and eat, which is what I normally would do when I wasn't following this healthier lifestyle, I have found myself full very quickly on my days off.
The experiment throughout the week of counting the calories has been an eye opener. I would have eaten over two days worth of calories a week, each week, before I started this journey, so whether or not there is anything else that this journey has done for me, it has stopped me from overeating a huge amount and that is a massive bonus.
The walk we had today as a family was wonderful. We followed the canal and walked for miles in glorious sunshine. There were a lot of people not social distancing, but other than that I loved it. Actually, I think that is another thing I have picked up from this journey, a love of walking and a love of exercise in general. I certainly know that my body is going to plateau at some point, so next week I am upping the exercise game and going for 45 minutes exercising rather than the usual 30. I am on a roll and I don't want to stop.
Next week I am going to be doing a lot of cleaning around the house, to give me a little more exercise that I have to do rather than one I want to do. I have not been going over any of the 1680 calories (well, maybe one or two calories) and I think that this has helped me to get the 3 pound loss this week. I am looking forward to another week now and cannot wait until next Saturday's weigh in. It's amazing how much I am enjoying this journey now. Once you get into it, really get into it, the journey itself becomes something you can look forward to...but it's taken me 134 days to get here so perseverance is a key!
Well that is me for today. I am going to enjoy relaxing for the rest of the evening and sit and enjoy some reading time. Today I am thoroughly grateful for the scales and the reading it gave me.
Until tomorrow, stay strong and stay safe.
Thanks for reading.
Sean.
