Day 13: A Good Day!

seanfit1973

This is probably going to be the shortest blog post I have done so far. I have walked 14,111 steps, walked up 58 flights of stairs (according to my Fitbit), eaten quite well and haven't had any major cravings. Add to this the fact that my cold has pretty much departed to cold heaven and, all in all, it has been a pretty good day.

My day started well with a bowl of porridge, with blueberries and raspberries. Both filling and healthy. I had a humous pot and veg sticks for lunch and a tuna pasta bake with mushrooms and peas for dinner. Add to that 4 Munchies (delicious) and a banana and my eating has been good today. It has, though, been surprising to me that I have managed to resist the cravings I have had by simply talking myself out of them. That seems to be becoming easier.

However, I am not being lulled into a false sense of security.

I know that I will, once again, lose motivation and have exaggerated cravings that will be much harder to resist later on down the line, but I will continue to use the mantras I have been saying to myself (I will be healthy, I will be thin, I like the change I am making), using the Headspace app to be in the moment, the blog to reflect on my progress and by exercising through walking (which the dog is loving, by the way).

I like days like this and I think there will be more of them as the new lifestyle becomes a habit and much of the old me becomes redundant. The healthier I am, the more likely I am to want to continue it. I also believe that it is changing gradually that is also helping. There is no 'shock to the system' so to speak, no sudden and drastic changes that my body and mind rejects: it is simply change one rubbish thing to one healthy thing and then move on. It is only day 13, but I am enjoying it.

Nevertheless, with that in mind, 13 days into a year of change is still only a start, but you have to start somewhere. It is a little time consuming, writing this, posting on Healthunlocked.com and listening to headspace as well as the other things I am doing...but it's worth it. I am more energised (yes, even after only 13 days) and I have lost 4lb. Go me!

So I think I will keep going, keep changing and keep being healthier. I hope you do to.

Until tomorrow...

Thanks for reading.

Stay Strong.

Sean.
