Day 101: A Nice Day.

seanfit1973

Tomorrow I stop drinking alcohol for a week to detox, get it out of my system, get used to not having it at night before I go to bed and find a routine of non-reliance on alcohol. Perhaps that last part is a little strong, I'm on no way an alcoholic, but it has become a routine: drinking alcohol during the day and a whisky at night. Certainly my liver has born the brunt of staying in and doing little and this obviously has to stop.

Therefore tomorrow is my first day of giving something up once a week. Next week I will allow myself a single beer or a single shot of whisky twice a week, then I know that I am in control.

My routine is planned for tomorrow, including exercise of the mind and body and also making sure I work so I'm not stuck next year, when school starts again. I need to keep up with school work and ensure that I am up to date on teaching and CPD. It is hard, when there is so much time on your hands, to not focus and to fall away and allow yourself to slip, but I don't want to do that.

Additionally the wife is going to join me tomorrow with my morning exercises and this is a great motivator for me, because having someone else doing the same as me helps me to do it too.

Today I am grateful for having a sense of humour at a time when one is needed the most; I am grateful for my wife joining me on my morning exercise as it will help to keep me motivated; and I am grateful for novels that help my mind to imagine endless possibilities.

Until tomorrow, stay safe and stay strong.

Thanks for reading.

Sean.
