Day 28: Couch to 5k short.

I have been marking since 7pm and it is now almost 11pm so this will have to be a short post, as time really has caught up with me.

Yesterday I said that you could find time to do the things you really want to do, if you really want to do them. Well, today I did the first run in the couch to 5k and I felt good. It was cold, and dark, and hurt my legs that haven't run in a while. But as I got into it, I began to enjoy it and it reminded me why I used to run in the past.

I felt good because I had the new kit I had bought a few months ago and I now fit into it...which is always a good sign. I didn't get too out of breath running, so my fitness levels are better than I predicted they would be. Had to wear running sports leggings though as it really was chilly tonight.

Food wise, I have not overindulged today, two hobnobs and a couple of munchies (ok, maybe 7) but that's it. No alcohol and I am watching the things I eat carefully so as to ensure I am not eating too little or too much. Before I was supplementing my calories with alcohol, so there was probably muscle wastage because I wasn't getting the right calories to feed my muscles.

So where does this leave me at the moment? Tired...definitely. Still enjoying the process...mainly, if I am being honest. I don't think I will ever get over not being able to nip to the pub for a drink and a meal and stay healthy. I still have 8 books to mark and cannot decide whether to go to bed now and mark them in the morning, or mark them now and get them over with? Decisions decisions!

However, I am extremely chuffed that I have now officially started the couch to 5k and will continue it on Friday, as I need a day's rest and I am late back on Thursday...so maybe not then.

Apologies that this has only been a short post, but I have run out of time and energy - although it's still more energy now than I have had in a long time.

Thanks for reading.

Stay strong. Stay honest.

Sean.
